Abstract. The article reveals the essence of civil socialization in the new information and communication environment, focuses on civil socialization mechanisms in the information society, the necessity of development of information culture and communicative competence. In a number of studies of socialization in the space of political communication emphasizes that the process of civil socialization is a separate species, which accumulates the components of economic, labor, political, and legal socialization. As a result variable of the process of civil socialization is allocated the formation of citizenship. Properties are defined citizenship as a set of rules and resources that contribute to the reproduction of social institutions focuses on the formation of organised social roles in the process of socialization. The criterion of citizenship is the ability of an individual to perform social roles in accordance with the established societal model is declared as optimal for a particular society.
