Editorial policy

The editorial policy of the journal is based on modern legal requirements to copyright and related rights as set forth in the legislation of the Russian Federation, and shaped in accordance with the recommendations of international organizations on the ethics of scientific publications, such as the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), supported by the community of leading scientific periodical publishers.

Main provisions
The mission of the journal is to create an information and communication space reflecting the state of research of domestic and foreign scholars and practicing experts on issues related to the theory and practice of communication.
The objective of the journal is to consolidate the efforts of scholars, teaching staff and practicing experts for the development of the theory and practice of communication, to conduct interdisciplinary research on problems related to of communication studies, to increase the availability of the accumulated knowledge and professional experience between the members of the Communicology School.
Hence, the principal tasks of the journal are to disseminate information on communication studies on the territory of the Russian Federation and overseas, to promote the formation of relevant scientific schools and directions, and to provide support for priority scientific research on the problems of the development of communication theory and practice.

The editorial policy of the journal is based on the following principles:
  • objectivity and impartiality in the selection of articles for the purpose of their publication;
  • high demands to the quality of research;
  • compliance with the reliability, scientific significance and relevance of published works;
  • collegiality in making decisions on publishing;
  • accessibility and efficiency in communicating with the authors;
  • strict observance of copyright and editorial ethics;
  • strict adherence to the established print schedule.
The authors should responsibly apply the following principles:
  • relevance of the topic and scientific novelty of the research, the problem and the applied methods;
  • weight of scientific findings and an objective discussion of the significance of the study;
  • reliability of results;
  • compliance with information demands of the audience and genre requirements;
  • accuracy of data presentation;
  • recognition of the contribution of other persons, the obligatory presence of bibliographic references;
  • submission of information from confidential sources only with their permission;
  • presentation as co-authors of all participants who made a significant contribution to the study; endorsement of the final version of the manuscript by all co-authors and their full agreement with the submission for publication;
  • disclosure of potential conflicts of interest (employment, advising, stock ownership, receiving fees, providing expert opinions, patent applications or patent registration, grants and other financial support, that is, facts that may be perceived as having affected the results or conclusions presented in the work);
  • prompt notification of any significant errors or inaccuracies in the paper and further interaction with the editorial board in order to timely correct errors or withdraw the manuscript; willingness to correct any errors or inaccuracies identified by the reviewer or editor.
The editors of the journal areguided by the principles of science, objectivity, professionalism, informational support of the most significant pedagogical and special innovative research, compliance with the standards of publishing ethics. The editorial board and editorial council include scientists with high international status. All articles are peer-reviewed. The journal is a bimonthly periodical. The main language is Russian with all titles, abstracts, keywords, information about authors and references provided in English. Every issue comprises original articles, including those of foreign authors, published in English with titles, abstracts, keywords, information about authors and references translated into Russian.

The journal updates knowledge in the field of sociology, political science, and cultural studies. The priority factors in the selection of manuscripts for publication are (a) relevance to the field of research, (b) academic and scientific objectivity, (с) application of decent new sources, and (d) completeness and polemical focus of articles.

In accordance with objectives and tasks of the journal, the editorial board provides:
  • regular issue of the journal in print and electronic versions (bimonthly);
  • publication of journal articles in open access on the publisher's website;
  • its financial independence;
  • wide geography of members of the editorial board in Russia and overseas;
  • double blind peer-review of the articles by the experts in the relevant field;
  • fulfillment of Russian and international requirements for publications;
  • publication of original research materials;
  • publication of manuscripts of leading scholars and experts in the above specified areas of knowledge.
For the purposes of further development, the editorial team implements a scope of measures aimed at improving the quality of the publications in accordance with the requirements of international standards and the criteria.
These editorial actions are:
  • development of international scientific relations to increase in the share of attracted articles by foreign authors and joint publications;
  • attracting articles by highly cited authors (forming a corpus of highly cited authors on the subject of the journal);
  • increasing the share of scientific reviews;
  • increasing the scientific level of the international advisory editorial council and the editorial board by identifying and attracting scientists with high citation rates, including foreign scholars;
  • improving the quality of the review system by attracting experts recognized by the international community, identifying and maintaining a database of external experts;
  • achievement of compliance with the formal requirements of international systems (WoS / Scopus), including those related with the availability of informative titles, abstracts, keywords, full information about authors, and sufficient reference lists in English);
  • improvement of printing and digital quality of publications;
  • development of the electronic version of the journal using additional media tools (publications on the website of the article’s main data - tables, figures, videos, etc.);
  • introduction of a feedback with the authors;
  • creation of electronic archives of the publication with full-text search;
  • improvement of distribution channels.
