Abstract: This paper presents the results of the first two phases of the Jean Monnet project “Transformation of the party and political landscape in the European Union in post crisis period” associated with the analysis of the reform of the party and political systems in Germany and the UK in recent years. In recent time, EU countries have experienced a number of crises, including the economic and migration, which had a serious impact on all major areas of social and political life of these countries, including the political one. As shown by recent studies of many of these processes, until recently the leading political parties in Germany and the  United Kingdom, namely the Social Democrats and the Free Democratic Party of Germany, Labour and the Liberal Party of Great Britain suffered significant electoral losses. At the same time the new political actors came to political limelight – the “Alternative for Germany” party, the Party of Independence of the United Kingdom and others, who in their policy documents have focused on the fight against illegal migration.
