Abstract: The article analyzes the new generation of complex risks arising as a result of accelerating social and cultural dynamics, which young people face in everyday communications. Special focus is put on risks that contribute to the formation of various forms of youth subculture. The established methods to minimize the effects of risks in the form of their symptomatic and symbolic «treatment» have a negative impact on the adaptation of young people to the challenges of modern society. In contrast, reflexivity of risk-taking practices is offered, which basically allows people to avoid the most negative consequences of risks in terms of increasing riskophobia. However, opposite trend is becoming more popular among young people – riskophilia. Both risks and their reflections are largely determined by the character of dominant types of communications popular among young people.
Keywords: risks, hand-made risks, the youth, communications, reflexivity, riskophobia, riskophilia
