SOME NOTES ON CYRILLIC SCRIPT OF BOSNIAN FRANCISCAN WRITERS OF THE XVII CENTURY

Abstract. The development of writing systems fundamentally transformed the ways of
communication. The era of writing has a special place in the historical development of the
literary language. Of great value is the study of the Cyrillic alphabet, the Bosnian Franciscans
Serbs and Croats. Cyrillic literacy of Bosnian Franciscans takes special place in historicaldevelopment of Serbian and Croatian literary language. Based on old cursive Cyrillic script,
which was common folk script in Bosnia and Herzegovina, they were first that formed
linguistic characteristics of their native shtokavian dialect and mainly marked most important
shtokavian characteristics. They did practically same what V. St. Karadžić will later made,
but based on graphical inventory of other type of Cyrillic script.
