Abstract:The article discusses the terminological aspect of journalism deinstitutionalization, the actual process, changing the structure of Russian media activity. There are a number of terms in social science affecting some aspects of studied process or describing similar phenomena. In particular, new media, alternative media, media convergence, media rehumanization. The article also compares the manifestations of deinstitutionalization with the provisions of new institutionalism theory. Author substantiates the necessity of using new operational term, that successfully applied by researchers in the fields of social work and psychiatry. He finds similarities and differences of the term from other sociological concepts. In conclusion he notices that the journalism deinstitutionalization is operational term, which reflects changes in the social structure in the context of postmodernism. The term retains the semantic relations with other concepts used by modern sociologists and allows us to analyze the processes in the media sphere applied to the social interaction.
